Red Archive, Project, Dublin 2004
Part personal anthology, part resource centre the red archive includes materials from individual artists, curators and institutions that inform, complicate and represent the relationship artistic practice and political action. As a system to accumulate matter that both informs and represents a variety of strategies in artistic practice, Red Archive is a place to think about art as a political prospect. Launched May Day 2004, and displayed at Project, Dublin (1 May 2004 - 30 June 2004).

Like other social practices, art involves relationships between people. Artists are part of a community of individuals, bureaucracies, networks, and institutions that together form collective moments of experimentation, analysis and exchange. While many artists engage in work that is overtly political or activist, it is possible to recognise subtle shifts in perception that arise through projects that are perhaps less dogmatic and more analytical and open in the threshold between art and politics, and the categories of artist, activist, audience, institution, and community.
